Youth Company Auditions

Are you interested in joining the Chelsea Dance Youth Company for the 2026-2027 year (September – May)
The Chelsea Dance Youth Company is looking for dancers ages 9 and up, who want to enhance their training, perform and engage deeply with the art form. This opportunity is ideal for dedicated dancers looking to be challenged and inspired while building lasting friendships and having fun!
We are excited to grow with those who are committed to their artistic journey ahead!
The youth company will focus on collaboration, skill development, and performing choreography by professional choreographers.

What will happen at the Audition?
Guest teacher Mary Catherine Jack will lead the dancers through a few simple warm up exercises and teach them a few choreographic phrases.
The audition process offers young dancers their first opportunity to be evaluated in a supportive environment. Feeling nervous is natural, but we strive to make this a positive experience. We are looking for dancers who show commitment and enthusiasm that being in a company requires. We can then work together to develop skills and performance experiences throughout the company journey.

Grow, Discover, Perform
Now in our fourth year, Chelsea Dance has nurtured many students who have been with us since the beginning.
For the 2026-2027 season, Company dancers will perform works by Mary Catherine Jack and Celine Richard Robichon in the Fall and will perform in several community events outside of the dance school in the winter/spring including a tour and performances with the School of Dance in Ottawa. They will also perform at our annual Spring Shows on May 8th, 2027 at the Wakefield Community Centre among other exciting opportunities!
Weekly Training for all company members includes:
- Contemporary Technique and Composition: either Tuesdays or Saturdays (depending on age)
- Company Rehearsal and Company Ballet (Thursdays)
- Additional classes such as jazz or hip hop are optional
