Classes

Chelsea Dance offers adult classes as well as child-centered classes where children are viewed as active participants who are strong, capable and can contribute based on their own experiences. Every child is celebrated for their own unique way of being in the world and are encouraged to discover their movement potential through inquiry, curiosity and play. Adult dancers with little or no experience are highly encouraged to join in the fun.

 

We offer classes for all ages to enjoy the art of dance in both Chelsea, Quebec and in Wakefield, Quebec as well!

Chelsea Dance

Parent and Child 

Baby and Me (0-pre-walking) and Parent and Child (2-4) classes are offered as an invitation for a parent or caregiver to bond and build relationship through the exploration of developmentally appropriate movement while connecting with others in the community through dance.

Chelsea Dance

Jazz 

Inspired by rhythmically rich and funky music, this class places a strong emphasis on developing a grounded jazz movement style.  All classes begin with a sequential warm-up incorporating gentle stretching, followed by isolations, traveling progressions and combinations that make this class both challenging and really fun!  This class promotes co-ordination, freedom of movement, confidence and overall body awareness in a supportive environment.

Chelsea Dance

Creative Dance 

Creative Dance class aims to build physical confidence, strength, flexibility and body awareness while developing the child’s natural joy of movement and active imagination. Students will learn fundamental movement skills necessary to express themselves through dance. Children will run, leap, twist, turn, bend, stretch, feel and play, all in a fun, protected and stimulating artistic and creative environment.

Big Movers

Big Movers dance class is designed for children who are energetic, athletic and love to move to music. Children will learn fundamental dance skills such as basic steps, turns, jumps and falls. Techniques will be taught through fun and engaging exercises and games and will focus on coordination, balance, gross motor skills and developing flexibility.

Chelsea Dance

Contemporary 

Contemporary class aims to build physical confidence, strength, flexibility and body awareness while developing the dancer’s natural joy of movement and active imagination. This class will end with an informal showing of student choreographies developed during the class.

Adult Contemporary

Reach, twist, pulse, contract, soar, and move while exploring contemporary dance techniques. Classes will focus on cultivating flexibility, strength, balance, and technique while finding self expression through movement. Beginners and experienced dancers welcome.

Adult Ballet Barre Workout

Medium cardio, stretch-strength-tone workout that leaves you feeling longer, lighter and more energized. No previous ballet or dance experience required.

Classic ballet training where participants will develop coordination, musicality, strength, flexibility and attentiveness. Build confidence while having FUN!
